Ania Bajorek is a screenwriter, film director and visual artist based in Warsaw (Poland). Her work travels across still and moving image and text. Growing up in the mountains of south of Poland in the '90s, she witnessed strong presence of nature in life that strongly influenced her work. Her stories evolve around intimacy and search for connection as a way of domesticating reality. Her process is intuitive, blending fragments of everyday life to evoke the melancholy and fragility of a fleeting moment.
Ania studied at the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where she developed a deep passion for storytelling, with a focus on the visual dimension of narrative. In recent years, she has concentrated on film directing, creating short films, music videos, and commercials, which have given her substantial experience in the filmmaking process.
As a finalist in prestigious competitions like Hestia’s Artistic Journey and a recipient of the Ministry of Culture scholarship, she has earned recognition in the worlds of both art and film. Her videos have been featured by platforms like Directors Notes and Culture.pl, as well as festivals such as Her Docs, while her photographic and visual art have been showcased in numerous group exhibitions across Poland (MOCAK, Cracow’s Month of Photography, BWA Zielona Góra, Nowy Teatr in Warsaw) and internationally (Umeå European Capital of Culture, Month of Photography in Bratislava).
In pursuit her passion for film she continued her education in Wajda School, where she developed screenplay of her debut feature at Studio Prób directing course. Last year, she participated in the Screenplay Atelier program, pitching her project at the Nowe Horyzonty Festival. Since then, she has been working on several feature screenwriting projects.
